Ladell Graham

A seasoned investment professional, operator, and business advisor with deep experience across capital markets, portfolio leadership, and business value creation.

He began his career on Wall Street, rising to manage a $10.2 billion investment fund, one of the largest of its kind in the country. In that role, Ladell was responsible for investment strategy, portfolio oversight, and performance across complex institutional mandates, gaining firsthand exposure to how sophisticated investors evaluate risk, governance, and long-term value.

Following his tenure on Wall Street, Ladell relocated to Houston and co-founded Smith, Graham & Company Investment Advisors, a premier investment management firm that grew to more than $2.5 billion in assets under management. He served as President and Chief Investment Officer, leading investment strategy, and firm operations. His client base included major corporations, public entities, and municipalities organizations that required disciplined decision-making, transparency, and long-term performance.

Over the course of his career, Ladell has been recognized for his leadership and insight in finance and business. He has been featured in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Pensions & Investments, BET, and NBC’s Succeeding Against the Odds. His work has also been acknowledged through numerous professional honors.

Today, Ladell is the Managing Partner of Ambassador Development Group, where he is actively involved in portfolio operations, acquisitions, and value-creation initiatives. His work extends beyond capital deployment into the practical realities of leadership, execution, and organizational design.

Ladell is also the founder of Perpetual Edge, an advisory firm built from lived experience across investing, operating, and ownership. Perpetual Edge serves business owners who are no longer constrained by ambition, but by structure, leaders who need visibility, leverage, and systems that allow the business to perform without constant personal intervention.

His advisory approach reflects how buyers, investors, and successors actually assess companies: leadership depth, decision flow, operational discipline, and the ability of the business to generate value independent of the owner. This perspective is codified in the Perpetual Edge Model™, a five-phase framework that helps owners translate effort into business value.

Ladell works with a limited number of clients at a time, partnering closely with ownership and leadership teams to reduce inefficiency, strengthen execution, and build businesses that are resilient, scalable and transferable.
